Review of the Finnish edition. In this volume Sakura, the princess of the Moon who has magical powers to destroy ancient monsters, is struggling with her relationships than the monsters There s still some action though And that doesn t mean the plot isn t advancing, quite the opposite actually.Sakura first has to deal with the heavy task of corrupted chancellor and transformed handmaid Oomi It s not easy to be a magical girl and Tanemura gives a hint on the chapter notes that this indeed has an effect on Sakura The emperor has also a fishy scheme that has been on since Sakura was a child and her brother was still alive The brother s role turns out to be much bigger than expected Tanemura is weaving such an intriguing plot here. Many pages of this volume are about Sakura and Aoba s love and relationship It s very refreshing that Tanemura is bringing the main couple together so early and instead of misunderstood messages and uncertain feelings, she s focusing on showing how the relationship develops and grows And the characters actually say they love each other and talk about what is troubling them Of course there is drama and miscommunication still but it s coming from a different angle and I like that There were some slightly iffy lines about how women are fueled by talk of love and feelings but I m not letting that bother me too much.Aoba also finally grew a little on me He s still one of my least favourite characters here but this time he showed he really cares for Sakura and that made me like him a little Fujimurasaki is a character I thought to have sinister agenda in the volume two but now it seems maybe he doesn t What a mystery I also liked seeing Kohaku and Hayate get some background I like the set of characters a lot and oh boy, we got new ones too Can t wait to learn about them. The plot kicks in another gear when people from the Moon come to claim Sakura I sense many conflicts coming, especially now that we know who that Enju person is who was introduced in volume 2 I m really digging this story so far, I realised I haven t read this kind of fantasy shojo in a while and sort of forgot how much I like it And what a cliffhanger There s some quite heavy elements in the story the way Enju became the way he is, for example although this isn t a dark series per se This volume still has some comedic moments but they are used well this time and don t ruin any dramatic moments.Do I even dare to gush about the art again IT S SO GORGEOUS Every page has so much admire No colour pages but even in black and white all the illustrations look amazing and the print quality is excellent.Quality fantasy drama with the most beautiful art out there If you haven t already started reading this series, do so ASAP Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.

I m not sure I like how caught up in politics Aoba is He seems to allow his political desires to effect how he treats Sakura and I m just not a fan of that The togu plays important role in helping these two as a couple and I m loving Enju and Kai and how they are interfering and influencing the situation. The side characters really are stellar in this and despite not being a total fan of the political side of the story am liking the back history we are being shown as we learn about Sakura s brother This kind of tragedy is so much better than star crossed lovers The art is still wowing and I pour over the frames and the way she lays out the frames and the characters within each frame So well done Probably why I keep reading.BOTTOM LINE I like this manga but I don t adore it.

Synopsis Sakura, still grieving Oumi s death, must fight the powerful youko of Uji But she finds herself no match for the demon s poisonous vapor It s time for Kohaku and Hayate with a little help from the full moon to step in.My Thoughts Things take a bit of a turn here Sakura isn t the only one from the moon around At least she and Aoba are honest about their feelings now, but it seems even that was just a manipulation Aoba doesn t seem to know anything about it, but Fujimurasaki does What will he do We also learn something about Enju that I suspected ever since he was introduced I feel for the guy Something like that should never happen to someone It looks like Sakura s being whisked away to the moon What will you do, Aoba

More of a 3.5 than a 3, but not enough to round it up It feels like Sakura Hime is finally finding is footing plotwise It helps that we ve dealt a huge character revelation that gives the series some serious depth, although some might see it as out of nowhere and it pretty much was Although one thing I d ask is that we as readers see of Sakura as this strong, independent, confident woman instead of other characters telling us she is Also, less contrived romantic obstacles but knowing Tanemura, those aren t disappearing any time soon.
