This book is a rhyming, short book dedicated to teaching simple manners, like please and thank you It rhymes foods with different animals with each page, which I viewed as pretty creative and different For example, a sentence from the book is pass the honey, bunny and throughout the book, the child asks for certain foods from the different animals They don t give up their foods until his mom comes and reminds him what the magic word is He then asks the animals please and they gladly share with him.I like how this book teaches manners in a cute, relatable way In the classroom, this would be a good choice to promote using kind words, and sweet words that are loving and polite to those around us, like our friends and family I think I could even bring snacks or toys and it would be fun to let the kids practice with each other saying please and thank you This would teach manners, but it would also teach the importance of sharing, too Vibrant pictures but a little too simplistic for my four year old Maybe better for a younger child. I picked this book up at a consignment sale The story is kind of abstract my best interpretation of it is that a little boy is having a play dinner party with his mother and a bunch of stuffed animals He asks the stuffed animals to pass various food items, and they all refuse until he says the magic word please The art work is mixed media collage I find it pretty unpleasant to look at because all of the characters look angry to me All of that being said, my one year old seems to love this book and frequently asks me to read it to her I guess that s the vote that counts This book shows great rhyming words It would be great to use in the classroom to help kids see how many words actually rhyme While, it was not that interesting, I read it aloud to my kids at work and they loved it They really enjoyed looking at the pictures.
